Horseshoe hotels have become more popular in recent years as they offer a lower rate of tax and lower rates of maintenance.
According to a recent report from Travelocity, the average price of a hotel room at the end of March was $1,942, down from $1.3 million in February 2018.
But while prices have dropped, the number of hotel rooms per capita remains relatively high at 15,500, which is roughly double the 10,000-per-capita number in 2020.
In 2018, Horsett hotels ranked third in the country in the number and type of rooms per resident, according to the survey.
However, in 2020, that number dropped to 14,000 rooms per person.
And the number who have stayed at Horset hotels has remained flat.
The survey found that the number stayed in the hotel in 2019 was 4,500; the number in the year before was 1,400.
Horserys and Holiday Inn Express ranked in the top five in terms of occupancy rates, but the report found that occupancy rates decreased from 6.4 percent in 2018 to 5.7 percent in 2019.
The average cost per night in 2020 was $3,632, up from $2,890 in 2019, but still well below the $4,100 average price at which many hotels were in business in 2020 when compared to 2017.
The data is based on the survey of 1,600 adults from March 2018 through May 2019.
